What to Remember After Your New Business Sign Is Installed

A new business sign can be just what you need to get customers through your front door and to let your business stand out from the competition around you. No doubt you've taken quite a bit of time to decide on the sign you want, and your installer has probably worked with you to create something unique and that will get the attention of passersby. Once that sign is installed, however, your work is not done! Note a few things to remember about that new business sign even after it's erected so you know it will continue to work effectively for your business over the years.

Blockage

It's good to check your business sign on a regular basis and note if there is anything blocking it or that looks like it might start to block the sign very soon. This might include tree branches that are beginning to grow in front of a sign on the building or shrubbery that may cover a sidewalk sign or lawn sign. Be sure your landscaping company knows to properly trim back weeds or other vegetation that may be growing around a lawn sign, and call a tree trimmer when needed, to lop off those oversized branches.

Colouring

Over time, the colour of your business sign may fade, especially if it's exposed to lots of hot sun, high winds, rain, snow and other such weather elements. Wood may be especially prone to fading and may need a touch-up of the colour on a regular basis. Metal and plastic signs may be more durable, but even their colouring can fade or change in tone after so many years, and they also may need a new coating of colour. Be sure you check your signs regularly for any such repair work that might need to be done to ensure the colouring is still strong and bold and can easily be seen from the street or sidewalk. Order new business signs as necessary.

Alignment

Check you sign regularly to ensure it's always aligned properly. Lawn signs can sink, settle and shift over time, and a sign hanging on the building might have connectors that eventually pull away and sag. Certain materials, such as wood or plastic, may also change shape slightly, as they get affected by extremes in weather. This can then make that sign seem lopsided and uneven. A repairperson can reattach any sagging connectors, and the ground around a heavy lawn sign might need clay or lime added to keep the soil strong and to keep the sign from shifting
